“Drinky Crow” created by indie-comic book artist Tony Millionaire is heading to Cartoon Network after winning a competition where several pilots were voted on by viewers. The show is in pre-production, and episodes should begin airing later this year.

“Drinky Crow” has an interesting history. The character started out in Tony’s weekly syndicated comic strip Maakies, and later made an appearance on SNL as an animated short (which apparently didn’t “click” with the SNL viewing audience). The character then appeared in the Adult Swim pilot that is much closer to the style and tone of Tony Millionaire’s comic strip. There are a variety of toy collectables featuring the character, and it looks like old Drinky is finally going to be a super-star with his new basic cable show.
