Ever since I first heard that SciFi was going to be developing a relaunch of the classic series Flash Gordon, my interest was hugely piqued.  Gordon has been easily the largest influence on science fiction as we know it, in film as well as on paper.  So you can be sure that we’ll be following the development of the upcoming SciFi series as closely as possible.

Today the news comes in from scifi.com that Eric Johnson, best known for his role as Whitney Fordman on Smallville, will take on the title role of Flash Gordon.  The first two episodes, written by Peter Hume and directed by Rick Rosenthal, who also was involved with Smallville, will begin production on May 1.
