Last week, I mentioned that it felt like Grey’s Anatomy could finally be getting back to its roots and presenting some quality television. With tonight’s episode, I think that trend is definitely improving.
Sure, there is some drama, specifically between Lex, Alex and Meredith, but nothing to match the oppressive gravitas of the past couple of seasons. But beyond that, it seems to be shifting back to the more light-hearted Grey’s that we fell in love with…or at least I did.
The bits with the “lovers’” quarrel between Shepherd and Webb, Sloane’s puppy dog crush on newcomer Hahn (how great is she?), and the failing romance between George and Izzy all harken back to the show’s stronger times. In hindsight, I don’t know that this episode was just tremendously special on its own, but if it is evidence of the way the show could be moving this season, we could be seeing a great return to form for Grey’s Anatomy.
