Old “ER” cast members have been coming back to the show for the final season, but Juliana Marguilies will not be joining them.

Sometimes these things come down to money, sometimes they come down to pride, but this one seems to come down to something else.

The character.

Juliana has stated that she won’t be coming back to the show because she felt like her character, Carol Hathaway left the series on a good note, in a very satisfying way for fans, and she doesn’t want to spoil that by coming back to the show for one more appearance that doesn’t really fit with the character just to make a pop-in on the last season.

That makes sense, and really is the best reason NOT to make a return. I’m not a long-time fan of the series, so I can’t say how the idea of her returning would make me feel, but I can say that from a creative stand point, I think her decision is a good one.
