Kevin Sorbo to guest star on “The Middleman”

Kevin Sorbo is going to be popping up on “The Middleman” this summer according to TV Guide. You may remember Sorbo from both this “Hercules” and “Andromeda” series from the 90s/ early 00s. Who am I kidding? Of COURSE you remember Kevin Sorbo…and you, no doubt, think of his starring role in “Kull The Conqueror” when he comes to mind…or is that just me?
Anyway, Sorbo is going to be playing a Middleman from 1969 who has been cryogenically frozen. The frozen hero is called into action when his old nemesis, “The Candle” causes problems for the current Middleman.
There is no word on the length of Sorbo’s stay on the show, but is expected to be one time guest appearance…for now, at least.

I found the pilot of “The Middleman” to be dreadfully lacking in anything resembling entertainment value(so much so that I wrote a nice long post about it on TV Gawker)…….but ya never know, maybe that was just the pilot. Bringing in a guest star with some experience making absurdity a bit more down to earth couldn’t hurt, that’s for sure.

Middleman is a very funny show – I think Kevin will have a hoot doing it (and he makes the perfect 60s Middleman). Besides quick, witty dialogue, there are a lot of “easter eggs” for sci-fi fans. For instance, in the recent episode, the Middleman used the alias of Dr Emmet Brown, and the show made reference to Twin Valley Mall (Back to the Future. The spaceship from “The Day the Earth Stood Still” also made a guest appearance.

to Michael MN: I think the mall was called Twin Pine (or another tree name), because when the DeLorean returned and mowed down one of the trees, the place then became known as Lone Pine Mall. I can’t see how such a short bit of time travel would erase a whole valley.
