After months of waiting, one of our most beloved shows debuts. Fans respond with a resounding…meh.
Man, I love Lost. So much so that I grit my teeth having to write something negative about it. But, Holy Hannah, what a lousy episode. There just wasn’t anything to hold onto, really. It was slow and it was repetitive. Yes, we know that Jack has daddy issues. Yes, we know that his wife left him for another man. Yes, we know that he needs something to fix. The only potentially cool thing from the flashback is a possible connection to Zeke/Mr. Friendly/Tom (here). And Juliet is not Penelope, apparently, but I thought I was onto something there.
Now…all that being said…that opening scene was great. I really felt like this was a return to form for the show. And what’s the deal with the file they have on Jack? How did they compile all that information in the 60+ days they have been there? That’s about the only big, pressing question that I have from the episode. That, and when will we see Locke, Ecko and Desmond again…

I just finished watching the most anticipated 43 minutes of the TV season (aka Wednesday’s Lost premiere) and I’m virtually speechless. From the fraktastic opening sequence to the chilling final moments, the four-star episode (penned by Damon Lindelof and J.J. Abrams) had me teetering on the edge of my swivel chair the entire time. It easily ranks as one of the best Lost eps — possibly the best — since the pilot.
You, sir, are a liar. Poop on you, sir. Poop on you for raising my expectations to a near catatonic level.
