American TV Audiences didn’t exactly welcome the “Heroes” into their homes on Monday night. The debut of the show’s third season drew only a 6.1 rating/9 share in the 9pm (EST) hour. That put it behind ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” (which drew a 13.5/20) and the combination of CBS’s “Two and a Half Men” (9.1/13) and the debuting “Worst Week” (6.8/10).
Now sure, there is certainly something to be said about the DVR factors and things of that nature that may have caused people to watch the show at another time, online, or whatever – but the ratings are still what executives look at when determining the health and success of a show…and these are not good.
This rating is even lower than the second season finale, which drew only a 6.6/9 in Dec.
I’m not sure what it will take to get “Heroes” soaring again – but if things don’t improve, this may be the last year for the NBC super hero show.

Nice title. It’s Season 3, obviously. You’re not sure what it will take to get the ratings soaring “again,” (even though there’s still a HUGE fanbase) probably because you have never taken the time to watch it yourself.
They should really find “reporters” to report on things they actually know.

the story isnt as interesting as season 1. season 2 sucks because there’s barely any story. just fire the director and producer for doing a bad job before they shut down the show.

well the reason season 2 sucked and lost a huge fan base is because of the retarded writer’s strike. they weren’t able to do the season as intended. and because of that season 3 had to suffer a bit because it didnt have time to sort out all the loose ends. season 4 will be great that is if the actor’s strike doesnt go through. plus it is available on anytime on the internet, so if they tracked how many people view the episodes online and add that to the ratings they would see that it probably didnt drop as much as they thought…..with sylar now “possibly dead” peter with powers back, knox dead (finally), mya out of the picture (finally) and a petrelli vs petrelli storyline for season 4 (after the heroes didnt change the future in season 3) it should spike back up like never before.

I agree. Heroes seems to have lost it for the past year, but recently things have been looking more ominous (storyline wise) and looks a lot more attractive to me.
And yes, peter got his abilities back… which is sweet!
And the ratings dont mean squat.. NBC has the habit of dropping shows with GREAT potential in a hearbeat with only a slight drop in ratings (Jericho, Journeyman, Drive, Worst Enemy… etc etc). Which is sad considering NBC doesnt have a clue what i or my friends/family watch or when we watch it.
As for the person doing this “newscast?”…
where is this season 4 debut?
This is still season 3.. did you study on this at all, or just throw out a bunch of ‘googled numbers’?
I can go to NBC and it tells me right there that “Fugitives’ is the name of VOLUME 4. can you say VOLUME? lets try it together…
VOLUME 4 is the second half of SEASON THREE.
And please start using proper sentences.. that second paragraph is one long drawn out sentence…

OMG i can’t believe you guys want to shut down the show. It is not fair! I’ve watched the 1 and 2 season in 3 days!!! and now i found out there won’t be more. THOSE RATINGS SHOULDN’T decide the fate of the show. Too many people love it, period.

heroes is a great show but with all the commerical time it puts through
its not hard to believe that people dont watch it. and the dialogues seem to go on forever for no reason except to waste time give us a hour of action packed sci-fi thriller and watch ratings soar..remember when peter was being taught by the invisible man and sylar was the boogeyman thats where they need to be the best thing they did after season one was turning mohinder into a dark spiderman.

See I’m one of those people which I know there is many that watched Heroes Online. And to tell you the truth I dont even think I watched even 1 show on tv. So I dont believe what there rating is. I would hate to see Heroes Be taken off. Cause I think the next Volume 4 will make NBC reconsider and those who happen to stop watching.

Guys, i dont know what the big damn deal is! We all know season 2 Sucked. If you do some research, season 2 was ment to be around 24-28episodes, But due to the 100day writers strike, and other strikes, they had to cut it down to 11episodes, and the writers didnt even write the script, It was staff, and actors, came together, to get some lines together. They had a Storyline done, but just needed a script. So guys stop bitching heroes, and bitch strikes!

I was just thinking the past few days that I hope they never cancel this show. Heroes is the Shit! Who’s your favorite character? Mine is Hiro! LOL! Okay now I know this might sound weird being a guy and all but he’s cute! Not like gay or something. He’s cute like a little kid or a pet. (From Season 3) Like a little Pikachu! LMAO! That was too funny. But seriously… him calling is mom “Mommy” was just so little kid cute. And I like him because he wants to be a hero and actively seeks out his destiny (which I lack in my life). I drove past some kids today and I think they were beating up another kid. I wanted to stop and intervene but I was working. I recently finished watching Season 2 and 3 back to back and I think that by watching this show it has given me a desire to fight bad people. LOL! Is that stupid? Can a show like Heroes really have that kind of an impact on people? I’d like to think so.
And Hiro is funny too! I admit though… I’m worried about the whole Ando killing Hiro thing. What’s that all about? So who do you think is hot on the show? For me it’s Daphne and Elle! Mmmmm!!! Yummy!
Anyway, I hope that they continue the show for at least a few more seasons. Tim Kring… you’re a genius! I also hope that this next season will have a lot more episodes than 11 or 13.
BEST. DAY. EVER.

As far as I know, the 4th Season Premiere hasn’t aired yet, and isn’t going to until February 2nd, but maybe they’ve released it in the States already.
Personally, I didn’t watch most of Season 1 – Heroes. I saw the premiere and a couple of following episodes. I was a bit younger then, but I found it a little too graphic in more than just the violence. I also considered the whole “Save the Cheerleader, Save the World” plot to be a little cheesy. I only started watching it again because I saw Hayden on Regis and Kelly talking about how she was saving dolphins (kudos to Hayden) and I saw the clip for the next season.
I absolutely LOVED Generations. I personally liked it far better than Season 1 (which I later bought on DVD) I found that it really made the characters more real and gave them more depth.
Season 3 was deffinately big on the action, which I liked, but they kind of moved from one problem to another. I was disappointed that they didn’t bring West back, he was one of my favourites.
I really hope Season 4 will be just as good. NBC must really be in trouble if they think that Heroes should be leaving anytime soon, because it’s 100% better than more than half the shows they already have on there.

I dont agree that Heroes stinks……the show is great and i cant wait for what will happen in season 4……The rating factor should not be used to cancel the show…..In my opinion the show must keep going…I agree that sylar is making the show rather interesting more and more….his powerful abilities are far to extreme to get him out! I totally agree with Matty when he says, “So guys stop bitching heroes, and bitch strikes! The show must keep on! the storyline is just getting even more interesting than ever….just because season 2 got low rating (strike fault) does not mean that season 4 will….More thrilling is how Peter can jack powers from others!! WAY AWESOME SHOW!! OH yes Nathan does need more power other than flying….lol

HEREOS IS THE BEST SHOW EVER AND I CAN’T IMAGINE HOW ANYONE WOULD WANT TO CANCEL IT! ya sylar is kind of carrying the show for right now, but thats just becuase he always gets the new characters and stuff…and hes amazing but still. Its gonna be awesome! Nathan and Peter are totally gonna fight! this is kind of what i wanted to happen, all of the heroes having to use there abilities to survive…but i think they need to get into a little more depth, i don’t know why but the whole forest thing isn’t really working…not for me at least. if they cancel heroes i will go jump off a cliff, but for now its still going and we’ll just have to see. it isn’t fair that they judge on how many people watch the original aire from TV. HAVE YOU HEARD OF ITUNES???? or the computer?? everyone hates commercials and they’re are a TON of them when it aires on mondays. i personally love to buy them off of itunes. and no one cares about dancing with the stars!! that is the STUPIDEST show ever! i don’t know why everyone thinks that show is so good! its the same thing as american idol its just about dancing…its stupid. all of you people who hate heroes…just wait…this seasons gonna OWN!

Why are most people always so critical about the show, I think they are doing a fine job. People always want something to watch and really new to get into, I think Heroes is just that. Stop being hypercritical and just enjoy the show! It’s imaginative and fun and keeps you guessing. What else could you ask for?

I dont think that alot of people even knew about the show, they should of done way more promoteing, I mean who wants to start watching a show when they dont even know what its about. They should continue to air the last seasons and promote it more, then mabey have some national vote or someting if they can do that. They need to check insant netflix also Everyone I know watched heroes on instant netflixs or through streaming aftrer all three seasons already aired. I think they should promote season 4 alot more BOTTOM LINE!!!!

Reality check: I think a lot of you people do not seem to get that a show producer does not keep a show because it is popular with fans that “watch it within three days” (or more) on the internet from illegal downloads. I am not writing this to condamn downloading but if fans of any series decide to watch the show as ‘divx’ on their PC rather than TV, then do not complain about low ratings resulting in a shut down of the show. Let’s see whether you would produce a multimullion dollar series continuously just because it has a huge fan base of which a large portion is not prepared to pay back. Not saying that it is necessarily the people writing here but popularity with fans on its own never will keep a series alive and everyone should know why.

Well this is bad news. Heroes is great, though parts make me think”ew they shouldn’t have done that”.
Right now, however, I am pissed because I missed the start or several episodes of Season 4 of Heroes. Today, right now, I just seen it in the guide one minute after an episode finished. I was panting like a rabid being, and so pissed that I missed it…
I’ll end up buying it form the store now. Season 4. Pffft…

Still love heroes. I dont care what other people think. If you’re going to watch a show just based on the ratings, that’s not very smart, but I’m going to watch this show because I love it. Not whether or not the ratings are good. Also, dont believe the ratings. You do realize people watch TV shows on the computer, right? I wouldn’t be surprised if more people watched it on the computer. There’s even people who watch it on DVD. A lot of people watch other shows on TV, which they cant find online and that might be on the same time as Heroes. So, thats why they dont watch Heroes on TV, but on the computer. If you really think about it, compared to what’s on these days, Heroes is a hell of a lot better. I mean Lost? Please…that show is getting old…going back to the island…that is a pathetic and desperate storyline.
Anways, give the show a chance and keep watching it. Its obviously not as fantastic as season 1, but what do you expect? Thats what every show is like. The first season is always the best for any show, and its very hard to beat it. Season 1 for Heroes was so great because of the mysteries and suspense, whereas now, we know the characters well, we know who Sylar is, and we know their powers.
At least now, Sylar is back to being bad, after we got to see a new side to Sylar, a human side to him because afterall, he is just a person like anyone else (just a psychopath with mom and dad issues).
Here’s what’s to come in the future for Heroes:
- Claire and Alex are gonig to be kissing underwater (maybe a possible relationship for the two?)
- We’ll learn more about Sylar’s life and story (including his mother and father)
- Sylar will probably kill Luke (there’s a scene with him pinning Luke to the wall)
- Micah is supposed to return (maybe he’s the rebel?)
- Hiro and Ando will have to save Matt’s son (Matt Parkman), which means we might even see Janice, Matt’s ex-wife return
- Peter and Matt will save Daphne, and Washington DC will go boom in the process
- Tracy is going to die, and maybe be replaced with Barbara
- Nathan will be exposed and his power will be revealed to the government
- We’re gonna see Eric Doyle (the puppetman) in the next episode
- Monica might return (West and Adam Monroe are not returning)
- And lots more surprises and twists

I must admit I watch it on Netflix – but it is a great show – but I despise the fact that they are cliffhanger episodes when you have to wait days/weeks/months for more of the story. This series is addicting and I watched the previous episodes in 3 days. Its not healthy

I loved all 3 seasons. I gave them all a 5/5. I rented them from netflix, and when I saw season 3 was it, I practically was in tears. I love the suspense in it. I love all the characters and I really hope that they make a season 4.

Personally I don’t care of what non-heroes fans think about Heroes. It’s a great show! Sure, the second season is quite disappointing and unfortunately that makes the ratings plummel down. But I agree with anyone who said that the worth of a TV show is not based on the ratings itself. There are many sides of the story which captivate fans and that should be far appreciated than mere percentage in audience.
Heroes has great storyline, and the possibilities are endless if it’s put in the right hand. It’s also supported bytalented actors and actresses. I have bought season 1-3 in DVD, watched them patiently on TV (Indosiar, here in Indonesia) and I certainly can’t wait to lay my hands on season 4. There are some people who have the same opinion as I do. Heroes rocks!

Like most people I was introduced to a cutting edge program in the 1st volume of heros. It was something new and not yet seen on TV, but like most people I really thought the show dropped the ball on the 2nd volume. I don’t blame the show itself I blame the writers for being greedy as hell and throwing a strike. Look I know writers never get any credit for writing the movies or sucessful TV programs and the actors get all the fame but thats the way it is so, freaking DEAL WITH IT!!! If you don’t like it do something else. You don’t see offensive line men or fullbacks quit because the running back or quaterback get all the fame. It comes along with the territory. But back to the show, the 3rd and 4th Volumes seem promising there is still a good plot and interesting new characters that pop up from time to time. It seems that the creator is going into a possible war between normal people and people with abilities which is cool but sadly it has already been done. (X-Men anyone) I don’t think NBC is really taking in the whole view of the show if they are only looking at the ratings the night it airs. Have they heard of Netflix?? I personally don’t watch the show on TV. I watch the thing on my X-box with Netflix and the reason why I do this is that I have to work on Monday nights and I can’t stand the Danm commercials!! I mean a quater of the show is freaking commercials!!! Anyway, I think they do have some work to do with some characters though. The cheerleader just really gets on my nerves, get some claws or something!! OOO, Wow, you can heal! Big deal!! The character that was the coolest was Peter because he could aquire abilities from other people without killing them!! But now all he can do is have one at a time which really sucks! And Sylar, oh Sylar, just because you have all of these abilities does not mean that he is unstopable to other people with abilites. I mean when Doyle the “puppet master” had him he just simply was like no you can’t hold me. Now how the hell did he come out of his control??!! Overall great show!! It has the potential to be something great and spawn a nerdy social outbreak like star trak or star wars did. And even if NBC cancels it maybe the Sci-Fi channel will pick up or something, like Scrubs was… BAD move on NBC’s part by bagging Scrubs by the way!! You Go ABC!!!

What NBC should do is try to get new viewers by replaying seasons 1-3 during the summer this will give them a chance to increase their fan base and see how it influences the amount of viewers for the premiere of season 4

I love HEROES!! since season 1 all the way!! HEROES is very popular around the world! The only problem with TV series is that if it took so long for another season to be released you loose more viewers in the process..So it has to be consistent and must be followed with another season asap while audience are at the peak of watching it..Hope HEROES will continue to entertain people around the world coz its the best TV series EVER!! its with par with PRISON BREAK!! heroes is even better for me!!

And let the people relate to this movie which could possibly happen in real life..
