Crusoe’s deserted island is now lousy with mutineers and their captives. After last week, the mutineer’s ship was damaged and they too were now trapped on the island until they can repair their busted vessel. This gives CRusoe some

While exploring the forest, Friday and Crusoe find an abandoned boat in a tree complete with a rotten corpse inside. I fully expected Booth and Bones to step out and solve the crime. They set off to repair the boat and escape. You can be sure it won’t be long before they have this hope ripped away.

During the boat repair, Crusoe has one of his patented flashbacks to merry old England.  This flashback centers around his brother in law. As usual, everyone is suspect and shady. These flashbacks are becoming increasingly tiresome. Its a balance to keep these plot teasers from become annoyingly vague. So far, Crusoe has failed terribly in this department.

The entire episode seems to turn on Friday’s reluctance to leave the island for England. While creeping around the camp, Friday seems oddly cautious. After being chased through Crusoe’s booby trapped jungle by the mutineers, Friday falls into a hidden pit and is trapped by a log. To make matters worse, the pit begins filling with water. Crusoe sets off to save his friend by trying to chop through the fallen log with a stolen ax. The tide is coming in and soon their repaired boat will be pulled out to the ocean, killing their plans. Crusoe refuses to leave his friend behind. Friday reveals his fears about coming with Crusoe to England and being sold into slavery.

Although we’d all love to live in Crusoe’s fantasy world where Friday could just coast into a British culture unscathed. The reality is that no matter how Friday tried to wander into England, he’d be sold off into slavery before too long. It a subject the the show tries to address, but without much success. Its just to big of a subject to ignore, and too profound to properly tackle in light pirate fare like Crusoe.

Finally, Crusoe’s McGuyver instincts take over and he figures an insane rescue plan involving the head of a broken ax and some jungle veins. As he frees Friday, the tide comes in and their repaired boat is swept out into the sea, killing their latest hope of escaping.
