WARNING: There are some major spoilers about the finale in this review.
There are a lot of great shows on tv right now, but very few of them live up to Damages. I’ve raved quite a bit about how great the show has been this season, and up until the last two minutes of the season finale, I didn’t know what to add to what’s been said.
This finale turned the series on its head with what can best be referred to as a Lost-quality twist. I mentioned in one of my reviews that all the characters are painted in shades of gray; no one is truly good. The finale proved that, not only is no one good, but even the ones we thought were only slightly not good are actually really bad. If that makes sense.
Now that Patty has been firmly established as the series’ antagonist, Damages has moved from it’s original appearance of a serial crime drama into something with a definite arc. I can not WAIT to see what is in store for us next season.
Despite the rumors floating around about the show’s renewal status, there has been nothing officially confirmed. I, for one, really hope Damages returns. It was easily the best show on during the summer months, but it also can hold its own against virtually any program out there as one of the best shows in TV.
Season Grade: A+
