It was results night on “Dancing with the Stars.” So who’s going home? Nobody. Not that it was a surprise. “Dancing with the Stars” tried to build some tension into the show by saving that bit of news till the end, but it was an obvious conclusion.
The music would have stopped for Rocco DiSpirito and Karina Smirnoff if Misty May-Treanor and Maksim Chmerkovskiy hadn’t dropped out.
There will be no clean slate next week. The judges’ scores and viewers’ votes from this week will be combined with next week’s totals. Rocco and Karina will have quite a struggle to climb out of last place.
In honor of Misty’s injury, viewers were treated to a montage of various injuries throughout the season — from bruises to sprained ankles to trips to the emergency room. It’s not a good sign when a TV show has to resort to a best-of-injuries segment.
Maksim and Edyta Sliwinska did perform the jive he had choreographed for this week with Misty.
To round out the hour, Kool & The Gang preformed a medley of their hits; the Radio City Music Hall Rockettes added some kick; and Jennifer Hudson sang “Spotlight” while siblings Derek and Julianne Hough danced together. It’s fun to watch two professionals dance — the lifts, spins and sheer talent are inspiring. You realize how far, far, far below this standard Cloris Leachman is.
