(S05E13) Before and After

Now that’s what I’m talking about, a crossover television event that actually hooks me in and leads me to want to watch the next episode. Last week Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice didn’t exactly hit the mark, tonight there was a home run. Or at least an intern run.

Addison, Naomi and Sam of Private Practice guest starred on Grey’s Anatomy bringing along the unconscious Archer in much needed life-saving brain surgery. No surprise, but Derek saved the day, sparking some life back into Archer but not into his past romance with Addison – thank God. If anything, this episode should reconfirm the fact that he and Meredith should finally be together and leave all that drama behind them.

Dr. Hunt, however, needs to tie up some loose ends before he can move forward. After Cristina discovers that Hunt not only had a fiance but left her via e-mail with no information that he was back in Iraq she begins to realize just how little she knows about her mysterious man. Sure Derek used to play the guitar, but did he leave his mother wondering which country he was currently living in? If ignorance was a competition, Cristina would surely win in the best friend show down.

As for Izzy’s mysterious illness, Alex is beginning to catch on that somethings off. Her hand/eye coordination is definitely off, but moreover, Karev is picking up on her determination to teach the interns something. I’m hoping that we find out exactly what’s going on with her medically in the very near future. Mostly though I’m just hoping it lives up to the hype and suspense.
