(S05E02) “Here Comes the Flood”
Sitting down to write this post I look over the usual notes that I take during each episode, namely listing what happened to who and why, and I realize that with Grey’s Anatomy it’s always the same. Each and every episode is so jam packed with action, drama, biting banter, and of course interesting patients that I hardly know where to begin.
In tonight’s episode the sky opened up and it began to pour, literally. Seattle Grace Hospital experiences a water pipe break that sends the hospital and all it’s staff into a tailspin. On top of their bountiful personal dramas the characters must also deal with the Chief’s new rule enforcement as well as his poor judgment concerning their pipe predicament.
However, we all know the Chief is a good guy at heart. To prove it he offers to sit down with George while he takes the intern exam which was interrupted earlier due to the flood. However, if you ask me, the ol’ Chief still owes Bailey a big apology. If there’s any one in this show that has a good dose of common sense and fairness it’s Bailey.
Once again Christina finds herself caught in the never ending love triangle that is Meredith and Derek. Forced to keep her personal opinions to herself she makes a plea to Meredith’s psychiatrist to keep their appointments, the same ones that Meredith assures everyone she no longer needs. I expect a lot more character development from the relatively unknown psychiatrist so I’m rather pleased her role in the show is picking up speed. As far as future predictions go I also see her solving the Alex mystery. Something is definitely up with that guy and I can’t wait to find out what it is.
In the end, just as is usually the case, all is right with the characters of Grey’s Anatomy. Izzie discovers she is indeed loved. Alex clues us in that his feelings aren’t all bitter and hateful. George takes his test. Sloan shows genuine interest in Lexie. Torrez makes nice with her new love interest Hahn. And Derek gracefully accepts the fact that, for now, Meredith still needs her roommates as well as Christina to lean on.
Judging from next week’s preview though, the pleasantries won’t last for long. Bring on the drama.
