@Dave

Absolutely right, you said exactly my thoughts.

Admitterforever, but I do agree that it's gone downhill, even from season 4. There are still some great moments in a few episodes, but it's just not the same show it was 7 years ago.

Admittedly, it's still my favorite series, and probably will be forever, but I do agree that it's gone downhill, even from season 4. There are still some great moments in a few episodes, but it's just not the same show it was 7 years ago.

This show represented everything that has gone wrong with this series.

1) a two-part off-location saga involving the kind of "crises" that most normal people would love to have as their biggest problem. Complete with Brady Bunch references, it's a pretty complete self-parody, though I fear it wasn't meant to be.

2) Elliot does not seem to be able to deliver a line in her normal voice this season - everything is that over-emotional "I'm in love" or "I'm in a very deep contemplative crisis" or some combination of both.

3) JD's "special" relationship with Turk is his most defining characteristic now - to the point where his heterosexuality isn't even credible.

4) Every show or scene featuring the old cast is just a rehash of their stereotype (Elliot excluded). Every scene with the interns is desparately trying to reinforce their new stereotypes (and they are just boring, boring characters - note they've already replaced one and pushed another into the background).

It reminds me of two other smash shows which ended poorly in my opinion: On "Friends," instead of being about real people with intriguing quirks, it became a spotlight on the quirks with the people and plots only devices to bring to them out. (IE, Monica was entirely neurotic / anal, Joey kept getting dumber, etc.). Next, on "M*A*S*H*" in the final seasons, the older, mature Hawkeye spent episodes doling out the wisdom he gleaned back when he was funny.

Scrubs is now a combination of those two. Let's have JD say something inappropriately affectionate to Turk and then have someone else warn the interns that "this place will tear you apart."

This show went from my favorite to possibly the worst show on tv, sadly.
