Showtime has picked up the British series “Secret Diary of a Call Girl” which stars former “Doctor Who” co-star Billie Piper. Showtime will begin airing the series in spring 2008. Originally the network wanted to buy the rights to the show to make a US version of it, but after watching the initial 8 episode series they have decided, instead, to simply air the show as-is in the US.

Their order not only includes the initial 8 episode series, but also adds to it the 12 episode second series that has already been commissioned in the UK. So US Billie Piper fans rejoice – you’ll be seeing a lot more of her on Showtime in 2008.
