On Sunday, January 6, 2008 at 9/8c, the 5th and final season of “The Wire” will kick off on HBO. The series is a police drama that has had an on-again/off-again relationship with HBO since it premiered in 2002. 50 Episodes of the series have aired thus far, and the final season will wrap up the ongoing storylines of the show – as would be expected.

The Wire is one of those shows that I never got on board with – I think I’ve had my fill of cop shows for pretty much the rest of my life – but it has a pretty rabid fanbase that I’m sure will be excited by this news.
