Iron Man was a breakout success at the box office this summer, so its no surprise that an Iron Man cartoon is making its way to television in early 2009.

This series, called Iron Man: Armored Adventures, is NOT a continuation of the feature film, and not an adaption of the comic book. Instead, its a new imagining of the Iron Man concept where Tony Stark becomes Iron Man as a teenager. There appears to be a teenage Jim Rhodes in the series as well, and Tony’s father “Howard” is featured heavily in the trailer.

The animation for this project reminds me of the MTV “Spider-Man” series from a few years ago. It’s an awkward mix of traditional looking animation and CGI. It’s all CG of course, but the cell shaded look is…a mixed bag.

Having said that, its the best looking Iron Man animation I’ve ever seen. The show airs on Nicktoons in 2009.
