According to Deadline Hollywood Daily about 400 Screen Actors Guild members met on Monday in Hollywood and endorsed the group’s push for a strike. SAG will be holding two more meetings, one in New York next week, and another in Hollywood on Dec. 17th.
Ballots will be sent to over 120,000 SAG members by the end of the month, then they will have an official vote.
Frankly, I think this entire situation is completely ridiculous. There is no way the AMPTP is going to buckle under their “strike” pressure – and if they do go through with it – there is no possible way that they’re going to considered anything but the bad guys in this situation by the general public. They’re setting themselves up for a HUGE windfall, and in this economic climate, even threatening to put hundreds (if not thousands) of people out of work over Internet royalties is just plain absurd.
