Ladies and Gentlemen…this may be the greatest news I’ve ever heard in my life.
A&E – a network that once stood for “Arts and Entertainment” – has signed none other than Steven “Under Siege” Seagal to star in a new reality series that will follow him in his day job as a Louisiana Sheriff’s deputy.
NO – I am not making any of this up.
The show is going to be called “Steven Segal: Lawman” – it could potentially be the great television show of all time. There is no official word on when the series will launch, but you can bet your sweet ass that we’ll be covering it right here on TV Jab.

The CW has dumped Media Rights Capital, who were programming the network’s Sunday night line-up. They have instead replaced that programming with re-runs of Jericho and Everybody Hates Chris, along with MGM movies.
This has left Bob Saget’s new family centric show “Surviving Suburbia” without a home. The production company is continuing to produce the show, however, and will be shopping the series to the major networks.
Currently 13 episodes of the series are being produced.

Old “ER” cast members have been coming back to the show for the final season, but Juliana Marguilies will not be joining them.
Sometimes these things come down to money, sometimes they come down to pride, but this one seems to come down to something else.
The character.
Juliana has stated that she won’t be coming back to the show because she felt like her character, Carol Hathaway left the series on a good note, in a very satisfying way for fans, and she doesn’t want to spoil that by coming back to the show for one more appearance that doesn’t really fit with the character just to make a pop-in on the last season.
That makes sense, and really is the best reason NOT to make a return. I’m not a long-time fan of the series, so I can’t say how the idea of her returning would make me feel, but I can say that from a creative stand point, I think her decision is a good one.

Sacha Baron Cohen, the actor who portrayed “Borat”, recently disrupted the production of NBC’s “Medium” after being cast as an extra on the show while portraying his character “Bruno”. The character is going to be the star of another “Borat-like” movie called “Bruno: Delicious Journeys Through America for the Purpose of Making Heterosexual Males Visibly Uncomfortable in the Presence of a Gay Foreigner in a Mesh T-Shirt.”
So – you know – it sounds like the same movie as “Borat” but with a gay guy. Wonderful.

I’ve been a fan of Ron Livingston since “Office Space”, like many people, and I’m always excited to see what he’s up to. His latest project is a Fox TV Studio’s series which is being described as a “space-bound relationship drama”.
The series is called “Defying Gravity” and is the story of eight astronauts from five countries who take on a “mysterious” six-year mission through the solar system.
The project was created by writer-producer James Parriott, and co-stars Laura Harris and Eyai Podell.
There is no word yet on a network of pick up of this show.

At the Emmy’s Ricky Gervais was his normal charming – kind of assie self – and we all loved it. I even loved his movie “Ghost Town”. Gervais is one of my favorites – so when I found out he was asked to host The Oscars – I thought that was awesome.
Then I found out he declined. And I was sad.
Ultimately it’s probably a good idea for him to skip it. I couldn’t imagine seeing him do one of those wacky Billy Crystal opening numbers or anything like that. Still – I’d like to see him present.

We’ve seen The Terminator become the Governor of California. We’ve seen Jessie”The Body” Ventura in the Governer’s seat as well. Heck Ronald Regan became President – so its certainly not out of the question for a celebrity to make the transition from actor to politician, and the latest one just happens to be the voice of K.I.T.T. from NBC’s upcoming “Knight Rider”.
Kilmer could be entering the governor’s race in New Mexico, and he even has the support of current Governor Bill Richardson. He says, “I like the idea. Val Kilmer is a New Mexican, he was Batman. You know there have been successful actors going into politics. I haven’t talked to him about it, I don’t know how serious he is, but you know if he jumps in a race he’s got name ID, so it can’t be discounted.”
I’m not exactly sure how being Batman qualifies you to Govern a state – but the real question for me is…if he DOES become Governor, will he still provide the voice of K.I.T.T. or will the show have to “upgrade”?

Oprah may be lending a helping hand to Tina Fey’s “30 Rock”. Earlier this year Fey publicly stated that she’d like Oprah to come onto the show and play her best friend.
Well – we’re not really sure if she’s going to be playing that role, but Oprah is in final negotiations to appear on the show. Negotiations are so close to final that she’s already being written into the second episode of the season.
Oprah will be playing herself, and all her scenes will be with Tina Fey – so its possible that Tina is getting her wish. I love “30 Rock” and the show has had trouble in the ratings – so I’d love to see it get a boost from the blinding star that is Oprah.

Jay Leno may be heading out when Conan O’Brien takes over “The Tonight Show” next year, but long time rival David Letterman isn’t going anywhere.
The “Late Show” host told the New York Times that he doesn’t plan to leave anytime soon. He’d like to stay on until at least 2010.
Letterman also expressed empathy for Leno and the current situation he’s in with NBC. Letterman compared it to his own troubles with the network 15 years ago that eventually led to him leaving for CBS.
