FX cancels “The Riches”

FX has officially cancelled “The Riches” after a two season run on the network. The series which starred Eddie Izzard and Minnie Driver dropped 44% in its second season with viewers in the 18-49 demographic.

The show never really had an ending, because the Writer’s Strike cut the show off early in its second season. The last episode of the series aired in April.

There is little chance that the show will find a home on another network.

(se04ep01) Mac and Dennis: Manhunters

The gang from Paddy’s pub returned last night with two back to back episodes to kick off the 4th season of the always interesting “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”. The first episode focused on two main plot lines. In one, Mac and Dennis decide to go on a Manhunt after hearing Frank confuse his own life with that of John Rambo’s.

Frank also instigates the second major plot of the episode by convincing Charlie and Dee that they have eaten human meat. The two quickly become obsessed with “the hunger” and decide that they have to figure what the meat really was. When they ultimately decide it must have been human flesh, they go to a morgue to get a piece of human meat…you know…just to check.

Dennis and Mac end up hunting the now homeless “Cricket” in the hopes of eventually catching him and then either glueing pubic hair to his face, or tea bagging him.

The show continues to be a circus of the absurd, and I truly love watching these completely moral-free characters. They present a world of no consequences and no concerns about “right or wrong” – and it makes for a refreshing show (as long as you’re not easily offended). I do wonder how long they can keep it up, though. Each episode seems to get a little crazier – and at the rate they’ve been going, they may be cooking babies by season 5 – and that’s just not funny.

This week will see season premieres on Fox, FX, and The CW. First up…

House will premiere on Fox on Tuesday at 8:00 pm. According to sources close within the TV Jab camp it is expected that there is going to be some kind of mysterious illness – and its going to be up to House to figure it out while being snarky and demeaning to those around him. That’s just a guess, though. :)

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia will begin its fourth season on Thursday at 10:00 pm. Based on the previews it looks like the gang will be tackling important issues like cannibalism, waterboarding, and poor dental hygiene. It’s terrible human beings at their very best.

Supernatural – It looks like Dean is alive – as he is in the previews for the season premiere of The CW’s horror series. You can catch it Thursday at 9:00 pm.
