TV Jab

It’s the Holiday season. A time of year when children everywhere gather around the warm glow of the television to enjoy an endless number of holiday and Christmas themed specials. Channels like ABC Family actually tout that they celebrate “25 Days of Christmas” with Christmas movies all month long (although I have to tell them - “The Incredibles” is NOT a Christmas movie).

With the shear number of hours of television that are needed to be filled with holiday themed content this time of year, you would think that something as awesome sounding as a “Star Wars” holiday special would be on every year.

You’d think Star Wars fans all over the world would be able to pop in bright, crisp, DVDs of the special to spread the holiday cheer with their kids.

But you can’t do any of that? Do you know why? Because the “Star Wars Holiday Special” is exceptionally bad…and if you’ve never seen it…well, my friend, you are in for a treat because as our Christmas present to you (and if you don’t celebrate Christmas - that’s ok - we’d still like to give you a gift) we present the complete “Star Wars Holiday Special”.

Dan Whitney is Larry the Cable Guy. You may not believe it first, but take a good look - that’s him. He’s nervous as hell, and this must have been his first time on television. His pants are up to his belly button and there isn’t a hint of that “Git-R-Done” accent that makes him popular all over the middle of America.

The question is - who is the character? Is Dan playing a character in this video, trying to fit into the mainstream comedy scene at the time, or is Larry the character that Dan plays to bring in the paychecks.

Either way, you’ll see him on television every other weekend from now until the end of time. Because people LOVE those Blue Collar movies.

:P

futurama.jpg

This week Futurama returned from the cancellation hell that those idiots at Fox threw it into. The show has gained a huge following on Adult Swim since the cancellation, and is returning as a series of direct to DVD movies, and more episodes on Comedy Central in 2008.

“Bender’s Big Score” is their first feature length DVD…so…how does it stand up?

The Movie

I’m not even going to begin to recap the plot of the movie for you. I’ll hit a few highlights, but if you want to know the whole story, you’re going to have to buy the DVD.

The movie opens with a nice, stiff jab at Fox, then moves right into the plot. The gang all end up getting Spam after they give out their email addresses at a nude beach (you know, like you do). Also at the beach, they discover that Fry has a tattoo of Bender on his ass. The tattoo and the spammers lead to a time traveling adventure that covers thousands of years, and plays fan service to the audience like no money has ever done before.

So, just what is a show to do during the Writer’s strike if an episode runs short, since there is no writer to fill in the time with words? Well, “Moonlighting” had that exact problem during the last Writer’s strike in the 80s…and this is what they did….

Yup, the whole reason for the post is the joke in the Title. Apparently Rosie O’Donnell appeared on Nip/Tuck last night. This is her second appearance on the show, and her seems to like man-whores and getting hit with scaffolding lights. I don’t watch Nip/Tuck, so I can’t comment on the episode, but I really dislike Rosie, so I decided to make fun of her.

So there. Happy Thanksgiving.

Man, the one time that a governmental body actually moves quickly…

This morning, Stephen Colbert officially threw his hat into the ring and filed for inclusion into the South Carolina Democratic Presidential Primary. He had planned to run on the GOP ticket, but didn’t want to pay the $35,000 fee. Before I even had a chance to comment on it, however, party officials rejected his bid.

According to TVGuide, he didn’t necessarily want to be President, he just wanted to run for President in South Carolina, his home state.

kwik-e-mart.jpg

Originally a part of The Simpsons Movie promotion, the first official Kwik-E-Mart to ever open full time has done so at Universal Studios. The store is your one stop for all things Simpsons - particularly Homer and Bart.

Why we don’t have these as a national chain is beyond me. Talk about a franchise opportunity. I’d go to a Kwik-E-Mart in the bad part of town before I’d stop at a 7/11 or a Cefco.

Sure, it’s a big joke NOW - but what happens when he wins?

There is no greater Halloween tradition to me than The Simpson’s “Treehouse of Horror”. Granted, it’s usually a POST-Halloween tradition as far was watching the new episode is concerned.

This year is no different, as the 17th annual Treehouse of Horror episode doesn’t air until Nov. 4th - but - since I refuse to let Halloween go buy without enjoying this marvelous Simpsons tradition, I present to you, the Top 5 Simpsons “Treehouse of Horror” Segments of All Time with VIDEO.

5. The Raven

Narrated by the always awesome James Earl Jones, this segment from the very first Simpsons Halloween Special still holds up as one of the very best from the entire 16 year run (thus far) of the specials.

Ok…it looks like Drew Carey is going to do just fine. He handled this like a champ, and this woman - who really needs to pee - walked away with some serious cash.

Man, I love the Price is Right!
