UPDATE: AICN is now reporting that the earlier story was incorrect, and that episode 3.19 will contain flashbacks. It will be a Locke-centric episode (sweet!), and will feature more recent flashbacks from his time on the island, specifically, centering on the time he spent with his father after he magically appeared. So, it’s kind of what I said…sort of.
…for one episode? AICN is reporting that the 19th episode of this season of Lost, reportedly titled ‘The Brig’, will not feature any flashbacks whatsoever. From the article:
After years of privately and publicly nagging the producers of “Lost” to cut back on the flashbacks, I can report that 3.19 is slated to be the first-ever flashback-free episode in the series’ history.
Personally, I think that it’s way too late in the game to be changing the rules. Lost’s flashbacks are one of the major components of the show that make it so memorable, and ever since the show debuted, several other shows began to use flashbacks much more regularly, from what I’ve noticed. It’s worked for you for three years, guys. If flashbacks were going to negotiable, they should have been that way since season one.
Now, in the article, Herc goes on to say that ‘Brig’ will deal with one of season one’s mysteries. So here’s my prediction…3.19 will have flashbacks, they just won’t be flashbacks that deal with one particular character. Think of it like last season’s ‘Maternity Leave’, which was a Claire-centric episode, but all of the flashbacks were of previous experiences on the island. That’s what I expect ‘The Brig’ to be, just without focusing on one particular character.
The article also confirms the remaining lineup through the rest of the season. Along with that comes the exciting news that we will be seeing a Ben-centric episode on May 9! The complete list is included below, along with the rumored titles.
